Upon your arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport Dar es Salaam, you are picked up and transferred to the Southern Sun Hotel or the Serena Dar Es Salaam

After an early breakfast the shuttle bus or limousine will take you to Terminal 1 for your early morning flight to Mbeya. You will arrive there around 11:00 where you will be picked up by a comfortable minibus for transfer to Utengule Coffee Lodge, here you can enjoy many cups of our own Rift Valley Coffee. After checking into a room of your choice you can spend the rest of the day relaxing at the pool, enjoy some sports or walking the surroundings of the Lodge. In the evening you may see a spectacular sunset over the Rift Valley right in front of you

Watch the sun rise and illuminate the Rift Valley while you have your breakfast. From the restaurant verandah you can see a range of beautiful and busy birds on the lawn and in the trees near to your breakfast table. Today a walking tour through the coffee farm could be what you would like to do. See the coffee bushes growing under big shade trees and hear the cultivation secrets of this fine coffee, from our farm team. Of course a lovely lunch and dinner is waiting for you ? every day of your stay

Today you may want make an excursion to the huge 12-ton Mbozi meteorite, a colossus, which once flew through the universe before hitting planet Earth, this is said to be the 12th largest meteorite on the planet. After a 1 hour drive from the meteorite you could walk into the huge Rift Valley and see the hot springs or a quarry from where an exceptionally fine marble/onyx is extracted. If you prefer a physical challenge instead, you can take on the 1850m high Mbeya Peak but this will be a 7-hour walk. If you do it, you will be richly rewarded by unforgettable sights of an unspoiled rural Africa. There are other possibilities to spend your day, such as a town and market visit, a short insight into a marble factory, beautiful walks in the vicinity of the Lodge, or just relaxation by the pool

After breakfast you depart in a 4WD vehicle or Minibus to the Lake Nyasa. This drive of about 3.5 hours will take you through several climate zones, the cultivation of Tea and Cocoa and traditional villages. You will stay in simple but comfortable bungalows or rooms directly on the water front of the lake

Lake Nyasa (Lake Malawi) is one of the largest clear water Lakes of Africa and the area where you stay is simply great. Depending on the season, the lake can be as smooth and clear like a mirror but also at times there can be big waves. Enjoy the rest of the day relaxing on the beach and swimming in the warm shallow waters with temperatures of around 26 ? 28C

A day on the beach and in the water. Utengule can provide you with all sorts of beach gear such as goggles, beach games, volley balls etc. Food should be ordered ahead with the local beach restaurant, which can provide simple but tasty dishes. Soft drinks and beers are also available

Hire a dugout canoe/pirogue, to cross the bay to an ancient clay pot-making village. In this village people produce beautiful earthen ware pots and pans, and have done so for hundreds of years. Alternatively you can take a guided tour up a valley with a glass-clear river to reach a spectacular waterfall that has a large pool at the bottom. Have an invigorating swim here before returning to the beach

After breakfast and a last swim, you should depart around lunch time to return to Utengule Coffee Lodge, where you will arrive well in time for your sundowners and the possibility of another spectacular sunset

Early in the morning after breakfast, you depart by 4WD vehicle or Minibus to Iringa on route to the Ruaha National Park, alternatively you can fly. In Iringa a vehicle of our partner Lodge will pick you up and take you to Tandala Tented Camp. Quite often on arrival, you see large groups of Elephants as well as various Antelopes and other animals near the camp. Spend the rest of the day watching the animals and enjoy the typical African game park atmosphere

Today offers a full day in the park in an open Game Drive vehicle. Watch Giraffes, Zebras, Hippos, Crocodiles, Lions and many other animals roaming the park

Enjoy another morning in the park game watching. After lunch you fly to Zanzibar with a brief stop en route in Dar es Salaam. You will be picked up and transferred to the island capital of Stone Town. After a brief walk you reach the Zanzibar Coffee House Hotel, where you check in to the room of your choice. Enjoy your first cup of Zanzibar Coffee!

A guided tour of Stone Town will reveal the history, the architecture and many secrets of this unusual place. Later in the day you may want to walk the town on your own and visit the many shops along the narrow alleys, why not partake in bartering for that gift to take back home. Breakfast and possibly lunch are at the Zanzibar Coffee House Hotel, in the evenings you can dine in the many good restaurants in town or on the sea front

A guide will take you for a drive into the tropical countryside for a spice tour. On a number of stops he will show you the cultivation of Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Pepper, Cloves and other spices ? a very interesting experience!

Today it is either time to say good bye to Zanzibar and return to Dar es Salaam for departure to your home country or, you may want to stay on longer at one of the many beach Hotels in Zanzibar, which can be arranged by, us depending on your requirements

This is just one option for a great and adventurous visit to Tanzania. You may want to stay longer, cut short or substitute any of above elements according to your liking and time availability. A shorter trip for Dar residents, for example, could look as follows:

After breakfast depart in a 4WD vehicle or Minibus to Lake Nyasa. It is a scenic drive on largely excellent road (only the last 25km are a bit bumpy?) and through some most unusual climate zones.

Lake Nyasa (Lake Malawi) is a great experience for everyone, even the seasoned Africa traveller! It is a truly exciting alternative to the ocean, game parks and Zanzibar
